Musical Outreach Project

New Musical Horizons

All Saints’ Church, Ryde, Isle of Wight known for its long tradition of musical excellence has started a musical outreach project for local schools.

The aim of the project is to work with local children, set up a community choir, encourage children to consider joining the expanding church Trebles Choir as well as for all to participate in an Isle of Wight Schools’ Service on Saturday 22nd June 2018 at All Saints’.

Director of Music at All Saints’, Andrew Cooper, says “It is exciting to be setting up a community children’s choir based at the church”. Michael Stevenson (former Director of Music at Kings College Choir School, Cambridge) is to be running the community choir as well as preparing the children for a specially designed schools’ service.

The project is to be funded by All Saints’ and will not involve any costs for the participating schools.

Andrew continues “We are very fortunate in having secured the services of Michael Stevenson. Michael is passionate about outreach and during his career has organised and delivered many projects including work for the charity Voices Foundation, London. Aside from his work in the classroom he has also directed many choirs several of which have won awards and given concerts abroad”.

Finally, we are delighted that the following local schools have shown interest in the project and agreed to participate: Dover Park Primary School, Greenmount Primary School, Haylands Primary School, Oakfield Church Of England Primary School and Ryde School with Upper Chine.
